Illustration project by Daniel Clowes, one of the most important American comic and illustration artists. It was created as one of two proposals for the cover of Adverbs by Daniel Handler – a writer better known under the pen name Lemony Snicket, author of the bestselling series A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Daniel Clowes is an American comic book artist, illustrator and screenwriter. A well-known figure on the American independent comics scene, Dan Clowes is close to Adrian Tomine and is a major influence on his work.
