About Tom Palmer

Tom Palmer is an American comic book artist, best known as an inker for Marvel Comics since the 1960s. Born Thomas John Palmer, he studied at the Art Students League, the Frank Reilly School of Art and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He began his association with Marvel in 1967 and is most recognized for his inking duties on pencil art by Neal Adams ('The Avengers', 'Uncanny X-Men'), Gene Colan ('Doctor Strange', 'Daredevil', 'Tomb of Dracula'), John Buscema ('The Avengers') and John Byrne ('X-Men: The Hidden Years') during the following decades. Palmer has done pencil art on 'Jungle Jim' stories for Charlton through Wallace Wood's studio in 1969. He also pencilled for the Skywald title Nightmare and DC's 'House of Secrets' (1970s) and 'Steel' (1990s), and as a cover artist for Marvel's 'Star Trek' and 'Star Wars' titles. His inking style has influenced later generations of inkers including Klaus Janson, Josef Rubinstein and Bob McLeod. Text (c) Lambiek
