About Christian Paty

Christian Paty was born in Nantes. After his graduation in 1989, he began his career as a roughman with a communication agency. He eventually became art director, while he started making amateur comics for fanzines like Tentacule from Rennes and Faille Temporelle from Paris. He made his professional debut as a comic artist in 1996, when he was hired by Vents d'Ouest to make the series 'Damoiselle Gorge' with scriptwriter Tiburce Oger. Two books were published in 1997 and 1998. He has since then worked almost exclusively for Soleil Productions. He started out working with Ange on 'La Cicatrice du Souvenir' (three books, 2001-2002), 'Kookaburra Universe' (two books, 2003-2004) and the fifth book of 'La geste des Chevaliers Dragons' (2006). He participated in several collective albums, such as 'Paroles de Verdun' (2007) and the comic book adaptations of Michel Polnareff chansons (2007). In 2014 he worked with Eric Lambert on the 11th book in Jean-Luc Istin's heroic fantasy series 'Merlin'. In addition, Paty assumed the penname Dzack for his more humorous work, most notably the series 'Les Blondes', that he makes with Gaby since 2005. He also wrote the scripts for 'Les Zaliens', a humorous series drawn by Dominique Mainguy.
