About Maikel

Miguel Angel Garcia Laparra, better known as Maikel, is a Spanish comic artist and editor. He was a bank employee before turning to the comics profession in the 1980s. He made his first comics for El Papus, and subsequently was an artist for children's magazines by Ediciones B like Súper López, Mortadelo and Super Zipi y Zape. His best known work from is era is the series 'Los Especialistas' that ran in Mortadelo and was collected in a book in 1988. He has been an artist with the satirical magazine El Jueves since 1990, creating the hospital comic series 'Seguridasosiá'. Maikel's work was also featured in Sport magazine and in Puta Mili ('Cornejo, el teniente de acero (inoxidable)'), a magazine of which he was the editor between 1992 and 1997. His series 'Shok y Spik' ran in Mister K, the children's magazine of Editiones El Jueves, between 2004 and 2006.
