I am truly thrilled to have finally obtained an original piece of art of Francois Schuiten, to my opinion, one of the finest contemporary artists.
The artwork is a drawing made for the Louis Vuitton travel book 'Mars' ('Day 160'):
"Is not every descent into the abyss a descent into our own depths? I pondered the questions, because as I made my way into the tunnels, I felt I was probing a mystery. But this was no deep, cerebral dive, just a speleological exploration in search of a particular metal ore.
The advantage of plumbing one's own depths: you don't have far to go. If psychoanalysts took up cave exploration, they would understand what 'going deep' really means."
The drawing was used for a stamp placed by Schuiten when signing the book ("dédicace")

François Schuiten est un dessinateur de bande dessinée et scénographe belge né à Bruxelles. Rendu célèbre par son travail sur Les Cités obscures réalisé avec le scénariste Benoît Peeters, il a reçu le Grand prix de la ville d'Angoulême en 2002.
