About Michael Turner

Michael Turner was an American comic book artist from Crossville, Tennessee. His talent was discovered by Marc Silvestri at a comic convention. Silvestri hired him to work at Top Cow Productions, where he initially did background illustrations and eventually co-created the successful 'Witchblade' title. In 1998, he launched the creator-owned 'Fathom' title. Turner departed Top Cow in late 2002 to found his own comic book publishing company, Aspen MLT Inc. In 2004, Turner did cover illustrations to various DC titles, including 'The Flash' and 'Identity Crisis'. He also illustrated the six-issue 'Supergirl from Krypton' story in Superman/Batman. That same year, he also began publishing his new creator-owned comic 'Soulfire', and resumed 'Fathom' under his own Aspen label. He also took on cover illustration work for Marvel. Turner died on 27 June 2008 after a long battle with bone cancer.
