About Mike Docherty

Mike Docherty was born and raised in Glasgow, Schotland, where he developed an interest in comics together with his childhood friend Eddie Campbell. He eventually moved to the USA, where he started working in the comic book industry. An avid 'Conan' fan, Docherty got the opportunity to work on Marvel's comic books starring the character in the mid 1980s. Starting out with 'Conan the King' in 1985, he moved over to 'Savage Sword of Conan' in 1989 and later became got a run on 'Conan the Barbarian' until the title's conclusion in 1995. He also illustrated the 1990 graphic novel 'Conan: the Horn of Azoth' (script by Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway), which was an adaptation of the 1984 'Conan the Destroyer' film. In 2001 he drew the title 'Specwar (Special Warfare') for Peterfour Productions. Since the mid 1990s, Docherty has been mainly focused on animation projects. Text (c) Lambiek
