About David López

David López is one of the most promising artists on the current Spanish scene. He was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has lived in Palencia and now resides in Zaragoza. In the second half of the 1990s, López started off drawing superheroes in fanzines like 451º, working together with Jesus Saiz, Fernando Blanco and Javier Pina. He submitted these to competitions and used to send off photocopies of his strips to all and sundry, until he decided on telling more intimate and personal stories because they satisfied him more. That was the moment La Cúpula signed him and his 'Espiral' up for the Brut collection, a work which has received a lot of public and critical praise. In the late 1990s, Lopez contributed to varying magazines and fanzines, like Dueñas and El Vibora. For Ed. Cameleón, he made the superhero comic 'Espúnik' in 1998. He cooperated on Dude Comics with 'Amarillo Enamorado'. For Marvel, he made 'Nikki & June' with Alvaro López in 2001. In 2002, he signed on at DC Comics, and worked on issues of 'JLA Adventures' and 'Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight', and did a regular run on 'Fallen Angel' with Peter David. Text (c) Lambiek
