About Thomas Du Caju

Thomas Du Caju was born in Oostende, and studied plastic arts at the Sint-Lucas School of Arts in Ghent. He went to work as a commercial artist, and did storyboards, layouts and set designs for animation projects like 'Ivanhoe', 'Winnietoons' and 'Turtle Island' through Graphics & Animations in Antwerp. From 1999, he was employed by Studio 100 for seven years, where he specialized in 3D work (CGI). He also produced artwork promotional material and merchandise. He eventually turned to comics, and produced four books of the crime comic 'Sabbatini' in cooperation with writer Luc Morjaeu at Dupuis He has been one of Merho's assistants on 'Kiekeboe' for several years. He also teamed up with writers Jean-Pierre van Rijkeghem and Pat van Beirs to create 'Betty & Dodge' for Standaard Uitgeverij. It was announced in 2012 that Standaard pulled the plug on this series. In 2015, Du Caju and writer Jan Kragt made a comic book about the life of the Dutch king Willem I, in commission of the Eureducation Foundation. Text (c) Lambiek
