About Daniel Casanave

Daniel Casanave was born in the Ardens. He graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Reims, and devoted his career to illustration, scenography and comics. He is a illustrator for children's books and the press, and the co-founder of the publishing house Traverses. Since 2001, he also makes comics, specializing in comic adaptations of famous literary works. Starting with 'Ubu Roi' (by Alfred Jarry) in 2001, he created several adaptations for publishers like Les 400 Coups and 6 Pieds sous Terre, such as 'Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Guillaume Appolinaire in 2003, Shakespeare's 'MacBeth' in 2004, 'Diên-Biên-Phu' by Noël Tuot in 2005, and 'L'Histoire du Soldat' by Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz in 2005, as well as a series of Kafka adaptations between 2006 and 2008. He has also drawn books about writers and poets like Verlaine, Baudelaire and Flaubert in oblong format for Les Reveurs, as well as 'Shelley' with David Vandermeulen for Lombard in 2012. Casanave has also worked with Vandermeulen on 'Une enquête du Commissaire Crémèr' for Dargaud in 2008 and 2009. By 2009 he worked with Manu Larcenet on the 5th book in the series 'Une aventure rocambolesque de...', dealing with the Unknown Soldier. Text (c) Lambiek
