Description
I've been a fan of Jorge Fornes since seeing his art in Batman #66. His art dropped and sold out almost instantly. I was crestfallen so made it a point to keep tabs on his output.
When I saw him post a sneak peak of this page I made it a point to reach out to him and his people. After over three months of touching base and checking in...I was able to secure the page! Seeing Batman in that stance immediately brings to mind the Batman Year One. I'l never own a Mazzucchelli Year One... this page makes me equally happy!
An amazing splash page from a wonderful issue which collects Alfred's daily journal entries, chronicles of Batman's heroism and absolute devotion to protecting Gotham.
Jorge Fornes is the perfect artist for this issue...flawless storytelling and pacing. By eliminating the superfluous he leaves us with only the essential lines. His art is a feast for the eyes, but you're never overwhelmed.
The splash page shows Batman assessing a murder scene and immediately brings to mind Mazzucchelli, and therefore Toth. The influence is unmistakable and he transcends both with this brilliant point of view vantage.
So happy and honored to own this page.
