About Marcelo Lelis de Oliveira

Marcelo Eduardo Lelis de Oliveira is a Brazilian comic artist from Belo Horizonte, who stands out for his use of directs colors in his inking. He has published his work in Brazil, France and Serbia. He started out as an illustrator/reporter for newspapers like Diário de Montes Claros, Jornal O Norte, O Estado de Minas and Folha de São Paulo in the second half of the 1980s and the 1990s. He contributed to independent comic magazines like Graffiti 76% Quadrinhos e Legenda, and published his album 'Saino a percurá', a collection of stories set in Minas Gerais, in 2001. His work came to the attention of a European audience when he participated in an exhibition during the 2002 Angoulême Comics Festival. He made his European album debut with 'Last Bullets', a western written by Antoine Ozanam for the Casterman comics collection KSTR in 2009. In that same year, his work was also included in the Serbian anthology Stripolis. Text (c) Lambiek
