About Ulli Lust

Born in Vienna, Ulli Lust lives and works in Berlin since 1995. She is co-founder of the Berlin based comic group Monogatari. Studying Communication Design at the Fachhochschule Weißensee, she joined with fellow students Jens Harder, Tim Dinter, Kathi Kaeppel, Mawil and Kai Pfeiffer, to discover new narrative forms in words and pictures. In 2001, the group published 'Alltagsspionage', their comic debut in which each artist designed a comic reportage from Berlin. Lust is mainly active with comic journalism as well as autobiographical and erotic stories. She started running the online-publishing company electrocomics.com with Kai Pfeiffer in June 2005. Her 2009 graphic novel 'Today is the Last Day of the Rest of Your Life' ('Heute ist der letzte Tag vom Rest deines Lebens') was translated into English and published by Fantagraphics Books in 2013. In that year, Lust also published an adaptation of Marcel Beyer's novel 'Flughunde', which presents a fictional account of Helga Goebbels, the daughter of the nazi minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels.
