Description
Carlos Casalla is an Argentinian artist from Buenos Aires. He attended the National Academy of Fine Arts and was part of the painters group around Lino Eneas Spilimbergo. He learned the comics profession from José Luis Salinas. While working in advertising, he made a comic adaptation of the film 'Beau Geste'.
He joined the publishing house Columba and created 'Álamo Jim'. Casalla worked with Robin Wood on 'El Cosaco' and drew 'Perdido Joe, Memorias de un Porteño Viejo y Chaco' in D'Artagnan, El Tony and Nippur Magnum. He additionally contributed to Misterix of the publishing house Frontera.
Casalla created the popular series 'El Cabo Savino' in La Razón in 1954. The series was later published in Puño Fuerte, El Tony and Fantasía. For many years, he has drawn daily strips based on Patagonian history in Río Negro, including 'Los Pioneros del Sur' and 'Luis Piedra Buena'. He died in 2017, at age 90.
