Description

This ad was done for his auto mechanic and race car enthusiast friend Jim Pauley. Jim owned Sports Car Enterprises, located in Banksville, New York, just across the border from Connecticut. In the early fifties Alex became more and more interested in foreign cars and racing. He became acquainted with many sports car drivers and mechanics, Jim Pauley was one of those he would strike up a friendship with. Alex and Jim had appeared in a newspaper article (March 13, 1954) documenting their entry of their foreign sports car at the World Motor Sports Show at Madison Square Gardens. The photo is from the San Francisco Examiner photo files, which accompanied the news article. The artwork itself measures 10.5” x 14”.
