Team Yankee was an alt-historical novel that was turned into a comic series and later released as a graphic novel, set in an alternate timeline where World War III has broken out between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the 1980s.
The sketches depict various scenes from the novel, featuring military tanks and soldiers and their equipment. The sketches showcase Royo's talent for detailed, realistic renderings of machinery and weaponry.
The "3 Original Sketches for Team Yankee" are a unique example of Royo's work in a military context, and offer a glimpse into his process as an artist. The sketches are likely to be of interest to fans of both Luis Royo and "Team Yankee," as they represent a rare and valuable piece of original artwork from the novel's creator.
The 3 preliminary sketches were made for selection and approval for the cover of the military fiction novel ‘’Team Yankee - The Graphic Novel’’ by Harold Coyle. The sketches were presented by Luis Royo's agent to Alex Wald. Alex Wald was the one who selected and hired Luis Royo. In the end, it was Rod Whigham who became the illustrator.
I bought these 3 sketches from a Luis Royo collector who bought it directly from Alex Wald in 2008. After this I contacted Luis Royo's management and obtained the certificate of authenticity after sending and having these 3 sketches studied.
