About Bélom

After completing his studies in Fine Arts and Advertisement, Jean-Loïc Belhomme became artistic director of an advertising agency in Rennes. He enjoyed all forms of graphic expression, like illustration, animation and comics. He eventually chose for the comics profession. He has been active as a comic artist and writer under the pen name Bélom. His work has appeared in magazines like Djin, Formule 1, Circus, À Suivre, Spirou, Télérama Junior etc. At the same time, he made numerous illustrations for several newspapers and magazines, as well as advertising work like calendars and card games. Together with his writing partner Gégé, he is one of the main providers of scripts for Le Journal de Mickey since the mid 1980s. The duo has written Disney features like 'Les Bébés Disney', 'Génius' and 'Les Petits Boulots de Donald', but also non-Disney material like 'Pôle Émile le petit eskimo' (art by Jean-Luc Hiettre) and 'Robert Le Robot' (art by Tony Fernandez). They also continued their collaboration at Éditions Bamboo from 2003 with the humor series 'Les Ripoupons' (art by Gégé) and 'Les Toubibs' (art by Alain Sirvent). Bélom has additionally provided scripts to series like 'Sylvain et Suzette' for Dargaud. Text (c) Lambiek
