Wonderful Horned King character concept drawing, by one and only Tim Burton. According to the marking on the paper, this should be from 1981, when the movie was still in it's (looong) pre-production phase. I've owned several pieces of Tim Burton art in the past and this one was just too good to pass up...

Heritage description:
Tim Burton - The Black Cauldron Horned King Character Concept Drawing(Walt Disney, 1985). By the hand of the acclaimed director Tim Burton, we present in this lot an incredibly rare concept art drawing that showcases his dark and quirky approach to the wicked Horned King from Disney's distinctively dark animated film The Black Cauldron. Burton's career at Walt Disney Studios started when the artist was still studying at CalArts after he created the short Stalk of the Celery Monster. Beginning in Disney productions like The Fox and the Hound and Tron, Burton's participation in The Black Cauldron had him creating stunning concept art like the one offered in this lot. Rendered in ink and artist markers on 8.5" x 11" paper, this concept art drawing has the Horned King yelling at a Jester puppet, measuring an image size of 5.5" x 6.75".
