About Roman Surzhenko

Roman Surzhenko is a Russian comic artist, born in Taganrog in 1972. He graduated from the Taganrog State University Of Radio Engineering (TSURE) in 1994 and began his career working for the publishing houses Joy, Rosman, Phoenix and The Kid. In 2001 he created his first comic, called 'Magnificent Adventures'. He has worked for the publishing house Advance-Press in Moscow since 2003, for which he created series like 'Warrior & Monk', 'Shots from Nowhere' and 'Veleslav'. 'Flight from Earth' was also published in 'The Mammoth book of zombie comics' by David Kendall. In addition, he drew for magazines like Igromaniya and worked for several advertising agencies. Surzhenko draws fairytale adaptations for the series 'Whirly Tales' in the Russian girls' magazine Whirligig. The adaptations are made by Misha Zaslavskiy of Studio KOM. In addition, Surzhenko created storyboards for movies like 'Revenge of the King', 'Prisoners of 3 Planets', 'Possibility of vacation' and 'Zapiski expeditora taynoy kancelyarii'. In 2008 and 2009 he created the graphic novels '1612' and 'Hazard'. In 2009 he succeeded Christian Hojgaard and Drazen Kovacevic as the artist for 'La Meute de L'Enfer' for the French publisher Les Humanoïdes Associés'. This was followed by 'Metal' Vol.3 in 2010 and 'Les Carnets
