After working as a toy designer and picture-story show writer, Mitsuo Higashiura turned to manga artist after interacting with Osamu Tezuka, and made his debut in 1948 with the red book ``Moonlight Swordsman.'' While active in the world of red book and rental manga, around 1954 he also expanded into girls' manga magazines such as ``Shojo'' and ``Shoujo Club.'' Higashiura's lively adventure stories about young girls, such as ``Kinoko-chan'' and ``Osuzu-chan,'' captivated many readers. He passed away in 2012.
