Dan Adkins was an artist comic books and science fiction magazines. Born in Midkiff, West Virginia, Adkins worked as a draftsman when he was serving in the Air Force in the 1950s. He launched his own fanzine, called Sata, in 1956. During this period, he also contributed to other fan publications like Amra, Vega and Xero. He settled in New York City, where he freelanced for science fiction magazines and several commercial studios.
