Description
Paul Grist is a British comic book artist known for his very inventive storytelling with his own distinctive visual style!
He started making a name for himself in the 1990s with Kane, a crime comic but he is best known for Jack Staff, a superhero comic that originally came out in 2000. Grist published it himself until it was picked up by Image Comics.
Jack Staff was described as “Britain’s greatest hero” and offered a fresh take on superheroes by mixing British culture and history with classic comic book action. The series also shows Grist’s love for older British comics, bringing in a sense of nostalgia along with new ideas.
Jack Staff stood out for its creative approach and for doing something different from most superhero comics at the time. It helped show that independent comics could tell exciting, thoughtful stories in their own voice, outside the big publishers.
