Elizabeth Pageant at Olympia 1912

This is the original pen and ink wash painting by Matania from 1912. It was used in the magazine The Sphere to illustrate a scene at Olympia. The art depicts an Elizabethan Pageant in the Royal Navy and Military Tournament at Olympia in 1912, " The Call to Arms" a display showing the uniforms and accoutrements of the age of Queen Bess (Queen Elizabeth I). The quality and precise detail Matania gives this painting is extraordinary. A stunning period painting.
