                About Pénélope Bagieu
Pénélope Bagieu is a French illustrator, and the author of several graphic novels about the lives and inner struggles of (young) women. She studied art in both Paris (École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs) and London (Central Saint Martins School), and had a short animation film broadcasted on Canal+ . She then focused on a career as an illustrator for the press, advertisements and publishing houses. She was additionally publishing drawings of everyday life on her successful blog, 'Ma Vie est tout à fait fascinante'. Her work caught the attention of French author Frédéric Ploton, with whom she subsequently made a couple of sex-related books, such as the 'Chamasutra' (a Kamasutra with cats, 2008) and 'Cahier d'Exercices pour les Adultes qui ont Séché les cours d'Éducation Sexuelle' (a sex exercise book, 2008).
She worked with Boulet on the graphic novel 'La Page Blanche' (Delcourt, 2012), about a girl with memory loss who tries to recreate her identity. Her next effort was the more musically oriented 'Stars of the Stars' with Joann Sfar (Gallimard, 2013) and 'California Dreamin' (Gallimard, 2015), a graphical biopic of Mamas & the Papas member Cass Elliot (1941-1974). In 2016 Gallimard released 'Culottées', a collection of fifteen portraits of women who fought the social pressures of their times to lead the lives of their choice. She is also a contributor to the comics anthology
