About Alexis Nesme

Born in Villefranche sur Saône, Alexis Nesme obtained his degree in Applied Arts in Lyon, after which he wento to study animation and children's book illustration at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. Graduating in 1997, Nesme worked as a press and children's book illustrator. His first comic series was 'Les Gamins', that was scripted by Eric Omond and published by Delcourt between 2000 and 2002. Nesme's showcased an easily recognizable style with a clever mix of several direct color techniques, that draws inspiration from Kent Williams, Nicolas De Crécy and Tim Burton movies. Nesme became an allround author with his next series, 'Grabouillon', for which he used a 3D technique. Two books were published by Delcourt in 2003. Nesme's also contributed his fairytale artwork to Delcourt's series of La Fontaine adaptations. He turned to Jules Verne for his next project, a comic adapation with anthropomorphic animals of 'Les Enfants du Capitaine Grant' ('In Search of the Castaways'), of which the first book appeared in 2009.
