About Jean-Claude Poirier

Jean-Claude Poirier started his career in the early 1960s in Bibi Fricotin, illustrating the comic adaptation of the adventures of the clown Achille Zavatta. In 1967, he created the series 'Maximax' for the periodical Paul et Mic, that was later continued in Quinze Ans. He had a daily comic about the Tour de France in L'Équipe two years later and worked for Record on 'Cactus Papa' with Jacques Lob during the same period. Between 1967 and 1968 he worked with Gianni de Luca on 'Klap' for Ed. Kangourou. By 1970, he joined the editorial team of magazine Pif Gadget, for which he created the funny comic series about the horse 'Horace' and 'Supermatou'. One of his final creations was 'Charlotte Poireau' in Tintin in 1978. In 1980 he illustrated 28 pantomime comic strips that came with Malabar chewing gum, as well as some other mini-books with 'Malabar' strips and 9 pages advertising comics, that were published in Pif Gadget. This was his latest commercial work before his death. Text (c) Lambiek
