About Michel Durand

Michel Durand studied at the School of Fine Arts in his birthtown Quimper and later in Orléans. He debuted in Fluide Glacial with several short stories written by either Bruno Léandri or himself in 1979. He was mainly active as a commercial and storyboard artist between 1983 and 1989, with the exception of the 1985 crime one shot 'Opération Chisteras' (Glénat, script by René Durand). He returned to comics when he succeeded Frédéric Garcia as the artist of the series 'Cliff Burton', written by Rodolphe, from 1989 to 1998. Durand cooperated with Dieter on 'Le Griffon - Les Tranche-Jarrets' (Alpen, 1992) and with Alejandro Jodorowsky on 'Les Enquêtes de Gilles Hamesh, Privé de Tout' (1994), for which he assumed the pen name Durandur. The latter was published (A Suivre) and later in book format by Les Humanoïdes Associés. In 1999, he wrote and drew 'Émotion de Censure' at Pictoris. Durand cooperated with Richard Marazano on 'Cuervos' in Glénat's Grafica collection between 2003 and 2007. He was the artist of the first and final installment in Frank Giroud's comics project 'Destins' in 2010 and 2012. Text (c) Lambiek
